Constant innovation

If the 60s had seen Irizar establish itself as one of the major State coach bodybuilding companies and the first to incorporate air conditioning in their coaches as standard, then the seventies saw the launch of new bus models such as the Korosti, which won the Gold Giralda award for best Spanish coach in 1972. The Urko and Urepel models were subsequently developed.

The company tentatively began its export strategy during this period, making inroads into the French and Israeli markets.

The highlight of the 80s was the launch of the revolutionary Irizar Century model in 1989, coinciding with the celebration of Irizar’s centenary. This model was a benchmark for innovation in the sector and a point of reference in terms of design and technology for all state coach bodybuilders and European manufacturers. Despite the economic crisis that took place during that period, the Irizar Century proved enormously successful ever since its launch.
