The Basque Prime Minister Elect, Juan José Ibarretxe, presided over the gala night for Basque businessmen, accompanied by the Basque Minister of Industry, Josu Jon Imaz. The Co-ordinator of the Irizar Project, Koldo Saratxaga, won the award for Basque Businessman of the Year 2000, after having been nominated for the last three years. The Lagun Artea Group from Zumaia won the “Made in Euskadi” award, while Sener Ingeniería y Sistemas from Bizkaia won the award for Business Innovation.
